NY NOSH FOOD TOUR
From the 1890’s to the 1940’s, the Jewish Lower East Side
was teeming with nearly a
half million Eastern European Jews.
Streets were packed with pushcarts and people.
Although living and
working conditions were difficult, the Jewish immigrants were able
to
practice their religion openly. There was a strong sense of family and
community, which
can still be seen today. Many of the shops we
visit have been in the neighborhood for over
70 years and are owned by
the original families.
You will learn about Kosher food, and what
makes these items Kosher.
