How did you gain your knowledge of food and neighborhood history?

I ask tons of questions and read even more.  These are the books I've enjoyed the most.

Do we need a reservation?  How do we make a reservation?

Yes, reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance.  They can be made online from our home page or by contacting our ticketing agency, at 1-800-838-3006.

Why do you limit your public tours to eight people?  Do you have a minimum?

We have noticed, and the shop owners agree, that small groups offer a more personal experience.

As a small group, we go into every store, which is a great sensory adventure.  Yes, our minimum is one person.

Do you offer tours for groups?

Yes, group tour information can be found here.

How much does the tour cost and what is included?

Our tour rate is $50/person.  The rate includes pre-determined food samples.

What is the cancellation policy?

All sales are final and non-refundable.  We reserve the right to cancel tours due to severe weather conditions, interruption of NYC public transportation, and other unanticipated emergencies.  If the Enthusiastic Gourmet cancels a tour, we will return your payment in full.

What do you do in case of bad weather?

Our tours run rain or shine.  However, we may cancel tours due to blizzards, snowstorms, nor'easters, and extreme temperatures.  Dress according to the weather.

Why do you request our contact info while in NYC, when booking a tour?
In the unlikely event that we cancel a tour, we will call and/or email the cancellation at least one hour before the start time.

What if the schedule does not have the date or time I desire?
Email your request to egourmetnyc@gmail.com.  We may be able to add a tour.

Since the Kosher shops on the Melting Pot tour are closed on Saturdays and Jewish holidays, do we visit fewer places?
No, we visit the same number of shops and have the same amount of tastings.  Stores will vary, though.

What if we have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
Before booking your tour, check the list of food samples to determine if the tour is right for you.  Since we are tasting the best of each shop, we do not make substitutions.  If you have food allergies which can cause anaphylactic shock, inform the Enthusiastic Gourmet at time of booking.

How far do we walk?
We walk 1 1/2-1 3/4 miles on our tours over a 3 hour period.

Is there anywhere to sit?
A few of the shops have benches, but we are not guaranteed a seat.  You can expect to be standing or walking for the entire tour.

Are there bathrooms?
Since we visit shops, not restaurants, public restrooms are not always available.

Are these tours appropriate for children?
Most children enjoy the tours.  However, each child is different.  If the previous three questions are not an issue and your children enjoy tasting different foods, the tour is great.

Will we be able to shop?
If the stores are not crowded and you make decisions quickly, there is usually time to make a purchase.
